Oven Baked Crispy, Puffy, Roasted Whole Potatoes Recipe

We have tried one of the best ways to cook potatoes. This crispy, puffy, and roasted whole potatoes can be served as a side dish. I especially love making this recipe whenever I want to level up my dinner dish. You will only need some of the most basic ingredients to make these the best-tasting roasties ever.

These oven-baked potatoes are very easy to make with minimal work and you can still have perfect puffy roasted potatoes.

What You Need:

  • 1.5 kg Maris Piper potatoes
  • 1.5 tbsp sea salt (for the water)
  • 4 tbsp of high-quality olive oil
  • Sea salt to taste
  • 1 bulb garlic (broken into cloves)
  • 3 tsps. Chilli flakes

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 220ºC. if the temperature is set below 220ºC, the potatoes might not come up as crispy. Alternatively, high temperature will burn them before they crisp up.
  2. Peel the potatoes and put them in a bowl of cold water to get rid of the excess starch. Afterwards, drain and tip them into a large pot.
  3. Use cold water to cover the potatoes. Add 1.5 tbsp of sea salt, and put the pan on the stove. Bring the water to boil. Once it’s boiling, set up a timer for 8 minutes. When the timer goes off, pour the potatoes into a colander and drain off the water. Leave the potatoes to steam dry for about 5 minutes.
  4. Place the potatoes into a large tray. Make sure they have spaces between them and they are dry before you add the olive oil so they roast instead of steam. Drizzle the olive oil over the potatoes and sprinkle over the sea salt.
  5. Put the potatoes in the oven and roast them for 30 minutes. If you’re using an Air Fryer then cook them for 20 minutes. Take the potatoes out of the oven and add garlic, and chilli flakes. Make sure the potatoes are well-covered with the flakes.
  6. Place the potatoes back in the oven and roast them for additional 15-20 minutes however long it takes to get them golden-brown and crispy.
  7. Take the potatoes out of the oven and put them on a plate.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Okay, I’m going have to try this recipe. It sounds so delicious! Do you typically have any other sides in the oven while you are roasting the potatoes?
