Java Lounge – Coffee House with Vegan Options in Colombo

Java Lounge Colombo is one of the oldest coffee houses in Sri Lanka. One day we needed to get our work done and came across this cafe on Jawatte Road. It was very attractive outside and inside and we wanted to find out if Java Lounge Coffe House offers vegan options. So, we walked in and asked for the menu. 

Does Java Lounge Coffee House Offer Vegan Options? 

Going through the menu, there was a comprehensive list of hot and cold drinks along with hot food options. Surprisingly there were not many options available for vegans. I am saying surprisingly because there were Lasagna and Cream of Mushrooms offered as vegetarian dishes. Both those dishes are not vegan-friendly. 

The staff were very nice and were happy to prepare for us custom-made wraps which they happily did. The wraps were with grilled vegetables and tasted very good. They were accompanied by a portion of french fries which were hot and crispy. From nothing available for vegans, we ended up with a vegan meal 🙂

For drinks, we had americano which tasted as good standard coffee. If you fancy latté you can have it with soya milk. The cafe offers soya milk for those who are lactose intolerant.

Java Lounge Coffee House has a relaxing atmosphere and it’s a good place for a meeting or just to get work done. They serve varieties of snacks, desserts, cakes, juices, tea and coffees. There are no vegan options at all however, they are happy to customise for you.

In that said, I would gladly come back to the cafe to get my work done. And if I get hungry, I know that I can always have a vegan wrap with a portion of french fries.
